Disability adjusted life years

average healthy years lost, 1990–2017

Info Edit

The disability-adjusted life year is a measure of overall disease burden, expressed as the number of years lost due to ill-health, disability or early death. It not only includes the potential years of life lost due to premature death, but also includes equivalent years of ‘healthy’ life lost by virtue of being in states of poor health of disability, combining mortality and morbidity into a single metric.
